At Cam Valley Montessori children are introduced to and work through the Montessori curriculum.

Montessori education is very gentle and holistic in its approach, seeking to support children's development physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Specially designed equipment and carefully chosen activities are introduced after careful observation of each child, in a 'concrete' manner, enabling children though their senses to form imprints in their brains of what they have explored. As children learn to master certain activities, in which they show an interest, they are gradually taken through a series of stages moving their understanding to an 'abstract' form.

Montessori is child-centred learning. Freedom to choose within boundaries.

Cam Valley Montessori also encourages independence and a deepening of concentration through graduated activities in all areas of the curriculum. Children learn  by engaging with the 'real-life' activities on the shelves which enables them to function competently and confidently in the environment. This increased independence brings with it, high self-esteem and self-worth.

There are many practical and creative activities to choose from after the chores are done, with an emphasis on "having a go" rather than a precise, adult-led, organised scenario. So many childcare settings are highly organised for the efficient running of the setting, that the natural flow of the day that a child might follow is taken away from them. We want the children to feel what they would like to do next rather than be told what's going to happen, enabling them to get in touch with their own creativity and to be able to relax and enjoy themselves!

Montessori Teachers

The Montessori teacher aims to gently and sympathetically encourage your child to realise his or her maximum learning potential by guidance through the Montessori materials.

We also aim to create positive attitudes, helping to develop strong individuals, and provide the stimulus and inspiration for your child to learn and progress at his or her pace within a harmonious classroom environment.

To learn more about the Montessori philosophy, call or arrange an appointment and we would be happy to discuss how this methodology could work for your child.
